Dreams for the Future: A Church of Truth

Right now, ALETHEIA CHURCH is mostly in the DREAM PHASE. A few concrete plans have been made, but mostly, this church exists in the head and hearts of just a few people.

Three words characterize the church we want: TRUTH, GRACE, and CHANGE.

TRUTH

We care a lot about proclaiming, preaching, teaching, behaving, singing, living, working, and doing EVERYTHING in a way that displays the truth, namely, the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Interestingly enough, the greek word for truth aletheia which we took the church name from, doesn’t mean truth in the plain sense.  Rather, it means “that which is not hidden.”  Because Jesus was the unveiling of God, as it were, we seek to be the type of CHURCH THAT UNVEILS JESUS to others.

This idea means we also care about things like authenticity and good theology.  Because Jesus is truth, we think that knowing truth, speaking truth, having true relationships, etc., is honoring to Jesus.

By God’s grace, we’re going to join him in building a great church that lives out this value.
